Madrid, the capital of Spain since 1562, is located in the heart of the Iberian Peninsula and is also the largest municipality in Spain. It is in the centre of the Castilian plain, 646-meters above sea level and also occupies the third position in the list of largest cities in Europe. In 2006, Madrid was the fourth most-visited city in Europe and the first in Spain, with almost seven million tourists. The city is the seat of the International Tourism Fair (FITUR) and the World Tourism Organization.

Aside from the geographical location, it is home to many fantastic architectural buildings, parks and wildlife. Madrid is a flourishing tourist hotspot that many wish to visit, being the home of the Spanish monarch as well as mouthwatering Spanish cuisine that can be enjoyed at one of the many restaurants.
